BEAUTIFULLY UNEXPECTED SURPRISED

My Romania Winter Travel Blog

SIBIU AND IT'S CHRISTMAS NIGHT MARKET.

On December 23rd, we arrived in Sibiu, and let me tell you, it was freezing cold! After a long journey, we rushed to our hotel to freshen up and rest. But the excitement of our first Christmas night market urged us to head out quickly.

As we stepped into the Sibiu Christmas Night Market, we were immediately overwhelmed by the festive atmosphere. The stalls were beautifully decorated with twinkling lights and cheerful Christmas ornaments, creating a magical ambiance that felt straight out of a holiday movie.

The scent of glühwein wafted through the air, enticing us to try it. As we sipped our warm drinks, we were pleasantly surprised—it felt like we were drinking hot wine, rich and comforting against the chill of the evening.

We indulged in a variety of sweet treats and traditional Romanian dishes, savoring each bite. It was another first for me, and I absolutely loved it! The flavors were vibrant, and every stall seemed to offer something new and delicious.

The highlight of the market was the enormous Christmas tree, standing proudly at the center, adorned with ornaments that sparkled like stars. The friendly locals added to the joyful atmosphere, greeting us with warm smiles and holiday cheer.

One of the most enchanting features of the market was the light show projected onto the walls, where colorful patterns danced in rhythm, captivating everyone around.

Surrounding the market were charming houses with whimsical eyes peering down from above, adding a touch of Christmas magic with a hint of creepiness. It was a unique blend that made the experience even more memorable.

Overall, our first night at the Sibiu Christmas Night Market was nothing short of enchanting. We left feeling full of joy, warm from the glühwein, and already planning our return to this winter wonderland.

TRAVEL BLOG 2024 ROMANIA IN WINTER

FIRST TIME IN EUROPE

My Romania Winter Travel Blog

I EXPERIENCE SNOW FOR THE FIRST TIME.

After reading many online blogs and watched YouTube videos. Eerie organ music and an intimidating laugh from Dracula is all I imagined during planning our days to Romania.

The vampire reputation is the main draw for most travelers to Romania.

(yes that's me channeling my vampire looks 👻)

Romania still lesser-known travel destination in Europe.

In fact, all of my friends, colleagues even families curiously asked me where this country located in the map.

This trip was six months in the making, including saving money, customizing the itinerary, looking up the best deal on airfare, and—most difficult — getting a visa.

Finally, we push through and arrived at Henri Coanda International Airport in Bucharest on 23rd of December 2023.

It was freezing cold that time....

Sibiu is our first stop, but unexpected events happened. All trains to Sibiu are fully booked, with the exception of the evening train, which departs at 6 PM (we arrived in Bucharest at 4 AM that same day).

Despite our low morale, we are determined to push this through, we really wanted to celebrate Christmas eve in Sibiu (They have the best Christmas night market), so we think of a strategy and take the train going to Brasov and from there we boarded a train to Sibiu.

Along the way to Brasov, the scenery from outside of our wagon window changed from forest green to pure white snow, causing a dazzling smile on my face.

It was my first-time seeing snow, and oh BOY! it was magical!!

As the snow continued to fall, Brasov welcomed us with a blanket of snow, I was excited like a little boy and ran out of the train and grab my friend hands so that he could take photos while I posed.

Snow is something I usually see only on photo album covers when I was a kid. It's now a reality, a dream come true.

I'm from the Philippines, where the weather is tropical. I adore the heat and the rain, but I've always been enthralled with snow.

In addition, I currently live in Dubai, where it seems like summer for the majority of the year.

because of that, the first time I saw snow, I felt like the 10-year-old me was back.

(My very first snow man).
(Giving life to olaf).

Anyway, the reason why we choose to visit Europe in December is to experience winter/snow and white Christmas. and we are lucky to experience it first day of the tour.

"NICE TO MEET YOU"
